The City Of Richland City Council will hold it's second ordinance hearing on March 19th to discuss raising electricity cost bills by 8%.

The first hearing was held on March 5th and if the measure passes, the new rates take effect on June 1st.

The rate increase is due to an 8% projected revenue shortfall due to the cost of higher wholesale power costs.

Richland Energy Services says that 60% of their operating expense comes from wholesale power.

The good news is that Richland Energy Services (RES) still has some of the lowest prices around even with a rate increase.

There is an easy way to calculate your bill with the proposed rates using the Bill Calculator and get more information at ci.richland.wa.us/EnergyServices, or contact Energy Services at EnergyServices@ci.richland.wa.us or (509) 942-7403.
