Planting Trees is Richland’s Plan to Honor Arbor Day Friday

In honor of Arbor Day, officially on the 30th, the City of Richland will be celebrating with a special tree planting event at Drollinger Park.

The Mayor of Richland, Ryan Lukson will make an appearance to read a proclamation. Richland is celebrating the 23rd year as a designated Tree City and 17th year as a Tree Line USA Electric Utility.

The tree planting will be tomorrow at 3 pm. (4/23)

Area girl scouts, City of Richland staff members, Richland Parks and Recreation employees, and the Mid-Columbia Forestry Council will be on hand to assist with planting instructions.

National Arbor Day is always celebrated on the last Friday in April. However, many states observe Arbor Day on different dates throughout the year depending on the best tree-planting days in their area. The official National Arbor Day is April 30th this year.

According to the Arbor Day Foundation,

Trees can add value to your home, help cool your home and neighborhood, break the cold winds to lower your heating costs and provide food for wildlife.

There are many benefits of trees. They remove pollution from the atmosphere, making our air cleaner. Trees provide oxygen and help clean our drinking water.

The location of Drollinger Park is 460 Tanglewood Drive near the Duportail Bridge. The tree-planting ceremony will start at 3 pm.
