Every year I look forward to the Flag display out at Sunset Gardens (located off the Bypass Highway in Richland). Not only is it beautiful, but it is emotional. The moment I pull onto the grounds I am hit with a wave of emotion and pride. Pride thinking of my own father and sister who fought for our great nation, along with the many men and women who have fought and are still fighting. I get emotional thinking of all those who lost their lives in that courageous fight and gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Sunset Gardens has three days planned for our community, to help celebrate this Memorial Day weekend and their 50th annual Memorial Day celebration. Saturday, starting at 10:00 a.m. they will have a Betty White tribute and tours of the funeral home. They will also be serving free hot dogs that day.

On Sunday you are invited to drive out and enjoy free hot dogs again, starting at 11:00 a.m. and going until 2:00 p.m.

On Monday, Memorial Day there will be lots of events happening, starting with the breathtaking flag display. Over a thousand American flags will be flying across Sunset Gardens early that morning and if you haven't seen them before I highly recommend you take a cruise through the grounds, it is truly awe-inspiring! Starting at 11 am there will be a plane jumper, face painting, snow cones, live music, bagpipers, and hot dogs.

This is an event I never miss and I encourage you to bring the family out to take part in such a beautiful tradition. It is truly something you have to see to believe and I hope it moves you as it moves me! The physical address is 915 By-Pass Hwy, Richland, WA 99352, and for more information, you can contact Sunset Gardens by clicking HERE.
