The 2012 Daytona 500 kicks off the new Nascar season on Sunday with the race that is considered the grandaddy of all races. Before any of thiscan happen, Nascar has a little something called the Gatorade dual 125's, and this is the only Nascar race these take place. After qualifying for the race, the cars are split up into two groups to run in the 125's to determine she starting order for the inside and outside lanes. The first race will set the field for the inside row, or the odd numbers1,3, 5 etc. While the second race sets the field for the outside row, or the even numbers, 2, 4, 6 etc. The only two drivers who's starting positions are set, are the pole sitter (car with the fastest qualifying time) and the car outside the front row ( car with the second fastest time) which this year it happens to be team mates Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle. Not all of the cars in the twin 125's are automatically in the Daytona 500, they must race their way into the big dance, and that what makes these two races so exciting. First race starts at 11:00 am on Speed Network. This race has a great history to it, back in the early days they would start as many as 65 cars, now the maximun cars for any race is 43. Good luck to your favorite driver, and hope to see you in victory lane. Read more on the twin 125's.
