The U.S. Postal Service has notified employees that the Pasco mail handling facility will close by the end of this year, resulting in the elimination of 47 jobs.

The U.S. Postal Service will save an estimated $800,000 a year by closing the facility.

The Pasco office is one of 71 mail processing facilities facing consolidation in 2014.
