Samurai Sword Bandit Finally Sentenced in Moses Lake
A year ago Jamie Hampshire, 30 at the time, tried to rob Frank's Market in Moses Lake with a samurai sword.
He pushed down the store owner when she refused to open the cash register and then tried to smash it open.
The owner, Miyo Koba, then grabbed a golf club and proceeded to beat him in the legs. He then grabbed the register and ran.
A man driving by saw Hampshire running out with the register and followed him, even managing to get a camera-phone picture of him to give police.
This week Hampshire received a lesser sentence of 4.5 years for cooperating and showing remorse. He asked to write an apology letter to Koba.
