Some years ago, I worked at a radio station in Philadelphia. Great city, full of history. It was my first day on the job and the boss said he wanted to take me out for a cheese steak. No kidding, I had never heard of this before and was expecting a rib-eye steak covered in cheese. I thought that was odd. But of course, it turned out to be only one of the greatest sandwiches ever created. At Pat's Steaks in Philly, melted Cheese Whiz is the standard on your cheese steak, but American and Provolone are available. The meat is very thinly sliced, and the flavor is near identical to Steak Umm you buy in the grocery store. (I found it at Fred Meyer's)

A lot of places I go to and order a Philly Cheese Steak, it's just not the same. The meat is "off" and it might be good, but not Philly Good.

An authentic Philly Cheese Steak is so easy to make at home. Fry up (and chop as you go) the Steak Umm and add onions and bell pepper slices. Add that and the cheese of your choice to a toasted bun and you're all set!
