Fire Weather Watch in Effect for Lower Columbia Basin Into Friday
The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Fire Weather Watch in effect for the Oregon portion of the Lower Columbia Basin and the eastern Columbia River Gorge from Thursday afternoon through Friday.
And, the Fire Weather Watch will be in effect for the Lower Columbia Basin of Washington and Eastern Washington from Friday morning through Friday evening.
Winds are anticipated from 15 miles per hour with gusts as high as 35 miles per hour.
Due to the breezy winds and low humidity in the region, a Fire Watch means that critical weather conditions are forecast to occur.
According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton:
Thursday will be an active weather day. A chance of thunderstorms is also forecast for areas in eastern Oregon and far southeast Washington.
If you are working in outdoor conditions, it's advised that you stay hydrated. Drink lots of WATER.
And, of course, due to the excessive heat, we've also been hearing about how our local schools are managing. What is too hot to send your kids out for recess?

One more piece of advice, please leave your four-legged friends home in the comfort of A/C if you're so lucky. If your pets are outdoors, make sure they have an ample supply of water. They too have a hard time in this heat!
