Next week Nasa will attempt to land a rover named "curiosity" on  the surface of  Mars. This attempt will be Nasa's 2nd attempt the first being during Gerald Ford's presidency.

Former  astronaut John M. Grunsfeld, has been qouted as saying this mission was “the most important NASA mission of the decade.”

It is certainly a costly mission. The project will cost an estimated $2.5 Billion.

The goal is to locate carbon based organic compounds to determine if life has ever been sustained there.
