Umatilla Young Woman Athlete Stars in Nike Commercial
A young native woman named Jude Schimmel from Umatilla stars in a new Nike advertisement playing now on TV. She is a basketball standout that just graduated from Louisville but did not get drafted last spring and then was cut before making an WNBA team shortly after the draft. Even though she fell short of her dream of playing in the WNBA, her story is still inspirational and now she is an official N7 ambassador for Nike.
The “N7 Fund” is a part of Nike that is”committed to creating early positive experiences in sport and physical activity for Native American and Aboriginal youth in North America. Organizations that support Native American and Aboriginal communities through sport and physical activity programming for youth can apply. The N7 Fund grant cycle is closed. The next grant cycle will begin in June 2016.” according to their website.
