
Surveillance Video Shows Shocking WA School Crosswalk Violation
A driver was arrested after he was caught on video violating a school cross-walk safety zone. It happened in Pierce County, when an impatient motorist drove through the crosswalk as students were crossing.
According to the Washington Traffic Safety Commission and WSDOT:
Stopping Requirement: Vehicles must stop and remain stopped for pedestrians in both marked and unmarked crosswalks.
The violation ocurred on February 10th, as a middle school in Pierce County was letting out. At about 2 pm, school surveillance video shows a driver disregarding the crossing guard's commands to stop and let the students cross.

This is unbelievable, considering this occurred during School Resource Officer Appreciation Week.
The Driver Chooses to Drive Through the Crosswalk While a Student is Crossing
.The motorist uses inappropriate language, and tells the crossing guard that no-one is crossing, when clearly, you see that there is a student in the crosswalk.
Sheriff's Deputies Located the Offending Motorist the Next Day and Took Action
On February 11th, deputies review the surveillance video and establish probable cause for the 34-year-old male driver for reckless driving and driving while license was suspended. Deputies locate the vehicle parked in the bus loop and attempted contact for an arrest. After several minutes, the male refuses to step out of the vehicle and the deputy ends up having to break the window and assist the driver out.
