The Oregon Board of Education voted 5-1 to ban Native American mascots at ALL Oregon schools.

This is another example of political correctness gone mad!  The schools affected will spend millions of dollars changing gym floors, painting walls, graphic designs, signs, jerseys, letterhead, and other merchandise.   The Oregon Board of Education should be focused on education.  Forcing this change will again take away from the goal - education.  Just think what could be done with the millions of dollars that will be wasted.   The logos are honoring - the Kamiakin Braves logo is a perfect example "Be the best you can Be!"  Using Chief Kamiakin as an "epic namesake".

Here's more of the story.  Be sure and take the poll below!

The Oregon Board of Education has give eight high schools five years to change their mascots, nicknames and logos or risk losing their state funding.  Seven other schools with the mascot "Warriors" will be allowed to keep their nickname but will have to change any logos that depict Native Americans.  Elementary and middle schools are also affected.

Those who support the change say Indian mascots are racist, reinforce stereotypes, and promote bullying of Native students.   Those against the change say the mascots honor Native American history, demonstrate strength and bravery.
