How much did the #BettyWhiteChallenge Raise Locally?

The world was shook by the the news of Betty White's passing just weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Facebook was flooded with pictures and memories of America's sweetheart. It was no secret the love and compassion Betty had towards rescuing and helping raise money for animals of all kind, in need.

Even after her death Betty still continues to help animals, by helping shelters financially. Someone, somewhere posted a brilliant idea on social media , suggesting we all donate to our local shelter on her 100th birthday, and it became quite the movement! The challenge was the #BettyWhitechallenge and it turned out to be a huge success!

The challenge raised 12.7 million dollars on Facebook and Instagram, but the most exciting news is what was raised for our local shelters! I reached out to those local shelters to find out if they had actually seen an influx in donations on that January 17th and the answer was heartwarming.

The Pit Bull Pen saw approximately $2000.00 on that day, Mikey's Chance Canine Rescue raised just over $9000.00 and Adams County Pet Rescue received an astounding $11,567.50!

They say all dogs go to heaven and I can just see it now... Betty White with all the loved and missed furbaby's, looking down on us all singing, "You've got a friend in me."
