If you've ever pulled up to a campground and wondered if everyone else knew something you didn't, you know that is a terrible feeling! Especially if it means you'll be fined $99 for a Discovery Pass that you forgot to purchase before you left!

The Discovery Pass was implemented in 2011 to offset the cut in License fees for WA State.

The WA State Parks and Recreation Department do a fabulous job and keeping our state parks beautiful and equipt. A $30 fee  is very reasonable in price. The pass will last you one full year.

You may put two vehicle license numbers on one pass in case you switch off, but you must only have one vehicle at a time in use of the pass.

If you are pulling a horse trailer or recreational trailer, those don't need a pass but the truck pulling them does.

And, if you are not occupying a motorized vehicle and are just walking, riding a horse, or hiking in, you do not need a pass.

If you are just driving through and are not going to get out and leave your vehicle, you do not need a pass.
