The Tri-Cities is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the U.S. based on jobs, economy, population, and real estate!

Now the area is gaining a whole new sustainable area being built in Richland.

With the cooperation of the Richland planning department and a private developer the new area is called Badger Mountain South.

To be built in 5 phases over 15 years this new area is located between Interstate 82, Dallas Road & Reata Road. This new area will encompass a working vineyard, a wine village, more than 650,000 of commercial space and 5,000 home sites.

There will be open space and there are a number of things that will make this a "futuristic" area to live in. All of the homes will be plumbed and wired for solar, even wired for charging electric cars! The 650,000 sq ft commercial space will be heated by geothermal.

in their literature they say that everything will be close including shopping, schools, nature, family and friends. everything will be within walking distance and sustainable.

This is where the future of the Tri-Cities is going to be.  The infra-structure is going in now with the vineyard, ponds and residential lots being prepared now. The developer expects to break ground on homes starting mid-October.

There will be a mix of townhomes, single family residences, large estate properties, even retirement homes. They expect a large mix of price points as well with homes starting under $200,000.
