In a unanimous vote the Benton County commissioners voted to now allow new legal pot shops in Benton County including the unincorporated parts. The vote was packed with people, not surprisingly, since this was a heated debate in the community. The retail stores that are currently in Benton County have been grandfathered in, and will be able to remain open.

The proposed store called Nirvana on land in West Richland will also be grandfathered in. The store's location was at the heart of the debate about new stores being allowed. There is more developing on this story, but for now, it looks like retail pot stores will stay on the outskirts of town and will not be allowed any time in the near future.
