People all over are inquiring...

"What's up with the white van?"

It's been in the area for more than several weeks. Neighbors in Richland near Leslie Canyon have noticed the van sitting in the field for more than eight weeks. On occasion, it has moved.

There's been much discussion

It was talked about on my neighborhood app, however no one seems to know the FULL story.

One neighbor replied:

I called non emergency in June about it. Back then it was just a white truck and tent. Now it's 3 vehicles. It's a homeless camp. Getting bigger and bigger in your back yard.

Concerns are growing

People have called authorities about the van, as some believe that people are living in the vehicle.

One neighbor runs along the adjoining path and reports that the van camp is only visible from one side of the street. The neighbor noted that there appears to be another camp under a bridge going over the creek on Gage.

While this isn't going on directly in my back yard, I am concerned. It seems that there are more and more homeless in our vicinity.

Resources are abundant

I did some digging and there are a lot of places that can help. Elijah Family Homes is one. They help homeless folks transition into the workforce and onto success.

Several Tri-Cities organizations can help, including the Tri-Cities Gospel Mission. According to the website:

Rescue is the first step in resolving homelessness at the Tri-City Union Gospel Mission. Those who find themselves in need of a safe and welcoming place to land can find it here. As the basic needs of food, shelter, clothing and hygiene services are met, residents can be released from the fear and stress that come from being homeless.

Whatever is going on with that van, there are resources to help.
