High levels of lead were found in the drinking fountains at Captain Gray Elementary school in Pasco. They alerted families with a letter that 2 drinking fountains and 12 sinks all tested high for lead in the water coming out according to news reports. The district has been running tests on all schools water foundation but only about half of the results are back.

The health experts doing the tests are not surprised and say they find about 7 percent of the faucets tested come back with lead contamination. For now the school has shut off the water supply and put bags over the water fountains. They are waiting for the second round of tests to find out where the source of the lead is coming from. Richland just tested all 80 of their fountains and say that all tests came back negative and that they are all safe. Kennewick is in the early planning stages to test there fountains.
