On Sunday, May 1, 2011, the world learned that Osama bin Laden has been killed in a sting operation by the United States military. The news comes nearly 10 years after he led terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, which killed many Americans and forever scarred the country.

“Good evening,” President Obama said as he addressed the nation in a live statement. “Tonight, I can report to the American people, and to the world, that the United States has conducted an operation that has killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda and a terrorist who is responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children.”
