It's almost time for Back To School and that means your kids need brain food! Here are some very kid-friendly snacks to send to school with your little ones, or have ready for them when they get home.

  • 1

    Grapes

If you want to cut them to prevent choking, lay them on a flat plate and put another flat plate on top and slice in between!

  • 2

    Apple slices

If you hand a kid an apple, she'll usually take a few bites and throw it away. If you slice half an apple into bite-size pieces, she'll eat the whole thing.

  • 3

Blend fruits and vegetables and make frozen treats

Make your own popsicles but instead of using pop or juice make a smoothie with almond milk, bananas, berries, spinach, kale, cucumber, celery, etc.

  • 4

    Ants on a log

Smear peanut butter or cream cheese on celery and top with raisins.

  • 5

    Peanut butter on apples

Cut the apple slices thin and make open-faced sandwiches with a nut spread.

  • 6

Spaghetti with plain sauce +wheat noodles

You can add Italian Seasoning to plain tomato sauce for spaghetti sauce with no sugar. If smothered in sauce, the kids won't notice the noodles are wheat. And kids love spaghetti.

  • 7

Make mini sandwiches with cucumber slices

Kids LOVE mini-sandwiches. Put small slices of meat and cheese on thin cucumber slices. BOOM, your kids will automatically like cucumbers again.

  • 8

    Banana Boats

Cut a banana lengthwise, like for a Banana Split, but load it with peanut butter, raisins and sunflower seeds! Add shredded coconut for some variety!

  • 9

    Home-made Trail Mix

Making your own trail mix is NOT cheaper than store-bought, but you can control a little better what goes it in. For example, add some flax seeds for great nutrition. Maybe sprinkle in a little wheat germ.
