WSP Troopers Take Felon Into Custody In Kennewick Distracted Driving Stop [VIDEO]
Washington State Patrol Troopers netted more than a distracted driver on Friday.
During the WSP distracted driving emphasis stop at Clearwater and State Route 395 in Kennewick, troopers took one man into custody on outstanding felony warrants. The felon was also driving without a liecse and no car insurance.
What distracted driving?
There are 3 types of distracted driving, visual, manual, and cognitive. Distracted driving is anything that takes your eyes off the road, hands off the wheel, and taking your mind off drving. Cellphone use, talking to passengers, being lost in thought, eating or drinking, and dealing with pets and children are the most common.
April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
WSP is conducting emphasis patrols in Tri-Cities looking for drivers who are on their phones while driving. On Friday, they were patrolling SR 395 and Clearwater Avenue in Kennewick from 2 pm to 7 pm. The patrols will continue through the month.

Put your phone away or get ready to pay.
If you must send or receive a text, pull over to a safe location and park your car first.
• If you have passengers, appoint a “designated texter” to handle all your texting.
• If you can’t resist the temptation to look at your phone, keep it in the trunk.
