Richland police would like your help in identifying the suspected shoplifter shown  below. He apparently likes to hang around Target stores and Grocery Outlet. Oh sure, he stole the usual things a scumbag might steal from a store like that, but the weird thing is, he's also accused of stealing a handheld Barcode Scanner from one of the stores. This has me and the Richland Police baffled! Why in the heck would you steal a barcode scanner? Maybe you know someone who recently said oh, hey look at my cool barcode scanner!

Did you know the barcode is based on the idea of Morse code? Morse code is a series of audio dots and dashes and the barcode kind of looks like that! It's pretty amazing that the barcode has spawned other great ideas like the QR code (Quick Response code). Maybe you have a QR code scanner on your phone. When you come to one of our radio station events, we usually have a QR code there that you can scan to enter to win prizes. Hey wait a minute, if you can download a QR code scanner on your phone, why can't you download a barcode scanner? That dude stole that code scanner for no reason! But I think we already knew that anyway.
