I guess I should get my taxes done. I usually have them done by now, but I'm just not excited about it this year. Probably because I don't have enough deductions and I know I am not gonna get any money back. I might even have to pay in.

If you don't have enough deductions, there's a tax preparation guy in Richland who can solve all your problems. Or does he just create problems? He certainly created a few for himself anyway. This guy was apparently doing taxes for folks in Washington and Las Vegas. That's an odd combination, but anyway he was creating non-existant deductions to get more money back for his clients (and himself too, I'm sure). If I am reading the story right, he has to pay back all the money, and his clients just need to find an honest tax preparer. He apparently bilked the IRS out of about $200,000, and they want their money back. He's also going to spend a little time in jail. Gee, stealing almost $200,000, I would think that would be worth more than 6 months in jail. But I'm not in charge of that stuff. If I was to steal $200k from a bank, would I get just six months in jail? Hell no, or else I'd do it!  But for now, I guess I'll be good and file my taxes so they can use the money for all that silly junk they put in the covid relief package that has nothing to do with covid relief. Hmmm. Suddenly, jacking the IRS out of money doesn't sound that bad.
