Richland Police Chief John Bruce Resigns, Last Day is Friday
The City of Richland will be looking for a new Chief of Police.
Current Police Chief John Bruce gave his letter of resignation to City manager Jon Amundson.
Chief Bruce's last day will be this Friday, January 28th.
Bruce came to Richland from Frisco, Texas in June of 2019 after an extensive nationwide search. He was hired by former City Manager Cindy Reents.
According to a release from the City of Richland:
Bruce played an integral role in helping the City navigate through the community’s COVID-19 response efforts. He also implemented key organizational structure changes among command staff and assisted with updating departmental policies stemming from recent legislative amendments.
“We thank Chief Bruce for the leadership and goodwill he brought to our community. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. We have appreciated his commitment to national public safety standards,” states Richland Mayor Michael Alvarez.
Bruce was hired in 2019 after Chief Chris Skinner accepted a position as Police Chief in Eugene, Oregon.
