It's a big day in the Columbia Basin. The Benton County Fairgrounds will be the place that thousands expect to get the COVID-19 vaccine today starting at 1 PM.

The one thing to remember is that you can't just show up at the fairgrounds looking for the shot. You'll need to get pre-registered first so that you don't slow down the process for others.

Benton County Health District

The vaccination point of distribution being set up at the Benton County Fairgrounds will be operational on Monday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. They are expecting a large number of people to show up on Monday. This is a regional vaccination site, so there will be people coming from many counties to get vaccinated.

Be prepared to wait for some length of time in your car. Cars will be routed through the Fairgrounds parking lot and exit on the backside on to Oak. There is a 15 – 30 min wait time after you receive your vaccine before you can leave.

They are asking everyone to preregister before arriving at the vaccine site. Preregistering information will be available as soon as the state releases that information.

In the meantime, please visit www.FindYourPhaseWa.org to get your certificate showing you are eligible for getting a vaccine right now.

You can also call the Vaccine hotline at 800-525-0127. During business hours, a live operator will help walk you through the process of finding out what phase you will be in, and when registration will be available.

It's great the vaccine is finally going to be available but remember to get registered before you show up at the Benton County Fairgrounds so that you don't slow down the process for others.
