Kennewick Police are asking for your help to locate a dangerous felon.

Police say Ernesto Chaires is wanted for a Department of Corrections (DOC) warrant. His original charges were for Assault 2nd and Trespass 2nd.

This is NOT the First Time the Suspect Has Fled From Law Enforcement

In November, 2025, the suspect was captured by Kennewick Police after jumping over multiple fences. He was booked into the Benton County Jail on a felony warrant, resisting arrest, obstructing a public servant, and criminal trespass 2nd degree.

Ernesto Chaires Has Quite a Criminal Past

According to a report, in 2022, Ernesto Chaires allegedly solicited a minor for sex. He was arrested by Othello Police for communicating with a minor for immoral purposes and attempted second-degree rape of a child.

Ernesto Chaires is 5'6", and weighs about 195 pounds. If you see the 41-year old suspect, do NOT approach. Instead, call 509-628-0333 so police can take him into custody. You can submit an anonymous tip online at kpdtips.com.

Assault in the Second Degree is generally a Class B felony. It's punishable by a maximum of up to 10 years in prison, and a $20,000 fine.
