CA Law Firm Busted for Abusing, Misusing WA State Vehicle Lemon Law
You might have received one of these in the mail, warning that your vehicle may qualify for WA State's vehicle Lemon Law. IF you did, it was misleading.
Company Accused of Abusing WA State Lemon Law
Prestige Legal Solutions of CA will pay $125,000 to settle a lawsuit from their contacting hundreds of thousands of WA residents.

They claimed their vehicles were potentially part of a series of lemon law recalls, and promised as high as a 99 percent win rate. The envelopes contained what recipients were told were settlement information.
Why Did the Company Abuse the Law?
It appears they did it to generate online and public awareness for their agency. They sent out the letters without first checking to see if the citizens' vehicles were even on a lemon law list.

According to the AG's settlement announcement:
"...Instead, the firm merely reviewed internet forums and websites related to the automotive industry and sent advertisements based on that general information. As a result, thousands of Washingtonians reached out to the firm only to learn that their vehicles were not, in fact, lemons under the law."
Between December of 2024 and mid- 2025 and estimated 700,000 WA drivers were contacted by Prestige. WA state has some of the nation's tougher lemon laws, in that defective vehicles are dealt with for consumers more aggresively than in others.
The suit demands Prestige cease any and all such misleading operations in WA State.
