Installing Backyard Bathtubs Is Incredibly Easy

Ever since watching that ER ad that shows the two people in bathtubs outdoors I've wanted a bathtub in my backyard. I learned today how incredibly easy they are to install.

1. Figure out a way to make the tub level and stable (won't sink). One person just used bricks under the tub's feet. Another person dug a 5x7 hole six inches deep framed by two-by-fours and filled with dense gravel. Personally, I'd go with the bricks.
2. Purchase a long enough hose. If you want a fire cauldron to heat your water, a regular hose works. Otherwise invest in a hot water hose.
3. If you want to use a cauldron, install a fire pit next to the tub. If you don't care about the tub's longevity, you could install one UNDER the tub and then just worry about installing a wood seat for yourself.
4. If you want to use hot water from the house, ask a plumber to install a bib that links the hot water pipes to the exterior hose pipe. Now your outside faucet dispenses hot water!
5. Use cork or plastic to cover up the spill holes in the tub so you can fill it all the way up.
6. Worry about privacy.

That's it! See how easy it is? Now you just need a claw-footed tub. They aren't easy to find, but they usually are affordable when you find one (especially if you're offering to pick it up and carry it away).
