The exhibit reveals the complex, unglamorous, yet often inspiring reality of women steeled by ranch life in the modern west. The COWGIRLS exhibit will run through October 9, 2011. COWGIRLS features 30 photographs accompanied by narrative quotes that explore the daily challenges, professional triumphs, and personal tenacity shared by the women who run cattle or ride broncs and bulls. Detailed Info >> "Cavalcade of Bands", the premier competitive event for high school marching bands of the Pacific Northwest, will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Neil F. Lampson Stadium in Kennewick, WA. This is an all day family event, with Preliminary competition beginning at 9:15 a.m. The Instrumental Music Boosters from Kennewick and Pasco High Schools are honored to be hosting this event for the 30th year. The competition will be fierce as over 2500 performing students from 24 high school band ensembles from Washington, Idaho, and Oregon vie for the title of "2011 Sweepstakes" winner. The top 12 bands will advance to Finals competition beginning at 6:15 p.m., with a Final Awards ceremony at 9:30 p.m. Come watch the region's finest marching bands compete including all local bands: Chiawana, Hanford, Kamiakin, Richland, and Southridge, along with 18 other Northwest bands. Our host bands will give exhibition performances -- Pasco at 4:30 p.m. and Kennewick at 9:30 p.m. Each group will compete for distinction in multiple categories including Music, Visual, Percussion, Visual, and Drum Major awards. Cavalcade of Bands is a day of visual and musical pageantry, as auxiliary guard members, with their colorful costumes and flags, join the talented student musicians in presenting outstanding displays of performance excellence.
