It's that time of year again, kids are going back to school, the leaves are turning brown and spooky season is in full swing. This means it's time to fire up the DVD player..or the streaming device and start watching scary movies.

I've always been one for horror movies, even at a young age I was watching the original Scream movies, Aliens, Nightmare on Elm Street, you name it good chance I've watched it. So I can't tell you how excited I was when I found out about James Wan's new horror film, Malignant.

The movie is based in Seattle Washington and follows our main character, Maddison as she falls into a very dangerous world. Unable to escape her past she has no memories before turning 8 years old when someone from her past returns to bring those memories flooding back on an all-new horror story laid out in front of her.

She begins to have visions where she watches the death of people from a front-row seat, unable to move, speak, or even breathe while it's all happening. As the murders begin to hit closer to home Maddison becomes desperate to get to the bottom of everything happening to her.

One of my favorite parts of the movie, and I promise no spoilers, is when they go to underground Seattle and show the parts of the city that was covered up after the Great Seattle Fire. City officials at the time deemed rebuilding the city was a waste of effort and it would be easier to just build over the top of it. Making it even more terrifying during the moving as the unsettling imagery of the cobblestone streets and old storefronts all play a part.
