Does Danica Patrick or any other female really have a shot at winning at the Sprint Cup level? Most success for female drivers have come in the Indy/CART series, and I believe it's because there are a large array of drivers from other countries that could care less who they are racing. It doesn't matter if you're female or male, if you're slow get the hell out of road. I haven't heard a lot of negative feedback from the NASCAR drivers, but you have to wonder what the conversations are like when she's not around. We're talking about a sport that was derived by bootleggers who used to race to see who was the best driver when they were haulin' shine. When there is a change in any sport, there are bound to be some ruffled feathers. With this latest signing Danica will automatically get the green flag at Daytona because of previous owner points. This in itself ought to agitate some of the good ole boys. It brings up a great question: are women, given the best equipment, able to keep up with the male drivers mentally and physically? Patrick seem to have the skills to race with the big boys, but will the big boys give her a fair shot? There are a lot of drivers, in my opinion, that would never let a women beat them. A nudge here, a bump there, hey, it's just racing. The Daytona 500, known as the Grand Daddy of 'em all, is Sunday, Feb. 26. One thing about all the drivers: they agree on one thing. Rookie, female or just a driver who thinks he's the next great thing, you earn the respect of the veteran drivers by driving smart and clean or you just may find yourself on the business end of the tow truck for much of the season. Good luck Danica. What are your thoughts on this matter? I would really like to know.
