Fire officials say the fire is now at 400 acres with 5% containment.  Highway 12 remains closed but transportation officials say they may reopen the highway Thursday afternoon.

Highway 12 remains closed in both directions over White Pass as firefighters continue to douse the Cold Creek Fire. The fire was at 96 acres on Wednesday. It grew to 170 acres on Wednesday afternoon with no containment. The fire started Monday 6 miles east of the summit of White Pass. It's now along Highway 12 between Dog Lake and Clear Lake. Investigators are searching for a cause. More firefighters are expected on the fire lines Today. State Department of Transportation officials say while Highway 12 remains closed they'll provide an update on Thursday afternoon. Level 2 "Be Set" Evacuation Notices are in effect. The evacuation notice encompasses areas around Clear Lake and Rimrock Lake, including areas on both sides of US 12. So far no structures have been threatened and no injuries reported.
