Americans Set History with 2nd Playoff Sweep, To Conference Final

The Tri-City Americans are headed to the WHL Western Conference Finals after turning back a determined Victoria Royals team that never quit.

The Americans jumped to a 3-1 lead Wednesday night at Toyota Center, only to see the Royals tie it up at 3. But then the Americans got a huge goal to go ahead 4-3, and an empty net tally to cement the 5-3 win.

With the victory the Americans set a franchise record by sweeping consecutive opponents in the playoffs for the first time ever. Now they wait the winner of the Everett vs. Portland series, which the Silvertips lead 2-1. Everett was the US Division champ.
