5 Area Codes You Should Never Answer

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued an official warning about the One-Ring Scam.

They’ve identified the area codes that are most likely to be involved.

268 – which comes from the Caribbean countries Antigua and Barbuda.

809 – which comes from the Dominican Republic

876 – which comes from Jamaica

284 – which comes from the British Virgin Islands

473 – which comes from Grenada

On top of that we now have "spoofing." It occurs when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity. Spoofing is often used as part of an attempt to trick someone into giving away valuable personal information so it can be used in fraudulent activity or sold illegally. U.S. law and FCC rules prohibit most types of spoofing.
