Accidental Drowning
Due to all the inquiries we are getting from the media, we are posting this information here. We will not be releasing any further information.
On 07/05/2018 at about 9:49 am Officers were dispatched to 1214 E. Main St. for a report of a 2 year old child who had drown in a swimming pool. Umatilla County Fire District 1 EMS units were already enroute to the scene.
When the officers arrived on scene they found CPR and other lifesaving measures were in progress. We learned the child was found in an in-ground swimming pool after a short search when she went missing from the yard. A family member immediately began CPR and emergency units were summoned. Despite the best efforts of the family member, EMS and Emergency Department personnel at Good Shepherd Medical Center, the Child could not be saved.
There does not appear to be anything suspicious about this event. At this point it does appear to be a case of accidental drowning.
No names are being released at this time. The child and her parents were in Hermiston from Utah visiting family.
