Where is all this smoke coming from? Well, everywhere, but primarily Oregon's John Day complex fire. The winds over the last week have been blowing steadily from the south and south east, which puts us directly in the smoke stream.Interestingly, the Chelan Complex Fires, which are the biggest to date at 245,000 acres burned, are north of us, which means we shouldn't get smoke from them. We're also getting some smoke from the Baker City fires, which aren't as big as the John Day fire, but there's two of them.

All this smoke means that a poor air quality alert has been issued though noon today. That means kids and people with sensitive respiratory systems should limit time outside.
