Most people know to pull over for police and emergency vehicles when you see them on the side of the road. Now a new Washington State Law can cost you $1,000 if you don't do the same for utility and power line trucks.

According to RCW 46.61.212 (Approaching emergency or work zones—Penalty—Violation), now all utility trucks parked on the shoulder are considered  to have the same protections as emergency or work zone vehicles.

The law covers all police cars, tow trucks with lights flashing, highway construction and maintenance vehicles, and solid waste vehicles.

If you do not pull over a lane or move over, you can get a $1,000 fine and also jail time and loss of your driving privileges.

The new law has been active since June 2018.
