Officers with the Vancouver Police Department arrested a man on Tuesday for DUI.

The man was arrested with a blood alcohol content of more than four times the legal limit at 5 am.

Police were called to the scene where the driver reportedly struck the center barrier at a crosswalk. The man was driving recklessly, before stopping entirely in the roadway. According to the Vancouver Police Department:

When officers contacted the driver, they observed several indicators of impairment. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Clark County Jail.

Driving under the influence in Washington State is a gross misdemeanor with severe penalties. A first offense carries a mandatory minimum of 1 day in jail or 15 days of electric home monitoring, a $990 fine, 90 day license suspension, and at least one year with an Ignition Interlock Device.
