Some of my best memories growing up in Montana include gathering firewood with my dad. He was quite genius about the process. Anytime he was out hunting, he would make mental notes of downed or near dead trees and we would head back there when it was allowed to harvest them. He could handle that chain saw all day, then we'd load the truck and head back home. Then there was the splitting. I remember how bad I wanted to be great at it. After a few years, I got pretty good at it and then grew to hate it, but by that time, the job was mine and mine alone. Good memories.
