Umatilla Fire Fighters Scramble For Hazmat Suits During Spill
When hydrochloric acid hits the highway, you scramble for the hazmat suits!
Umatilla County Fire Fighters had to grab the hazmat suits for a highway spill that occurred yesterday along I-84 that involved hydrochloric acid.
Details of the incident were relayed on the Umatilla County Fire District's Facebook page:
At 6:46 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, Umatilla County Fire District #1 responded to a hazmat call along I-84 on exit 180. Upon arrival, our units found a semi-truck and trailer leaking hydrochloric acid from the trailer. Our hazmat team and fire crews identified the substance and stopped the leak until clean-up crews could arrive. UCFD1 cleared the scene at 9:20 a.m. after turning the incident over to the Oregon Department of Transportation. No injuries were reported.
That's good news that no one was injured in the accident. Oregon DOT will continue to clean up the spill and the roads have been cleared.
Do you have a favorite school lunch growing up? I know how excited I was when our high school got a salad bar.
I know a lot of folks growing up in the Tri-Cities remember chili and cinnamon rolls and I know folks in the Yakima Valley love their Cheeze Zombies with Tomato Soup.
How much has school lunches changed through the years, take a look below as we walk through what school lunches were in years gone by
