Tri-Cities IRONMAN: Important Need to Know Road Closures

It's a big weekend as IRONMAN 70.3 Washington Tri-Cities takes place this Sunday.

The first-ever Tri-Cities IRONMAN event officially sold out in July and is expected to bring millions to the community. The weekend of events kicks off on Friday from 5pm to 7 pm with a Volunteer & Community Welcome Party at the IRONMAN Village at Columbia Point Marina.

There will be plenty of Ironman staff and volunteers on hand to help you navigate in and out of your neighborhood.

Portions of the IRONMAN race will see traffic impacts, so make sure you check the interactive map for details. Click the button below for the map.

Residents and spectators are encouraged to plan ahead for Sunday's race events. The folks at Visit Tri-Cities recommended that you:

• Get errands completed on days prior to road closures.
• Plan your route to/from work.
• Expect delays when entering or leaving impacted neighborhoods.
• Reschedule regular deliveries; opt for delivery times other than Sunday.
• Avoid crossing the race route; find alternative through routes.

This Hike in the Columbia River Gorge is a Must Experience

The Labyrinth to Coyote Wall Loop. It runs 6.7 miles with an elevation gain of 1,489 feet. It features a waterfall, lava tube, rock formations, and incredible views. It’s heavily trafficked with hikers and mountain bikers on weekends and dogs are welcome on a leash. Beware, you’ll need good hiking shoes as a good portion of the trail is very rocky. It’s open all year round, but the experts recommend day use from March to November.

Cycling is HUGE in the P-N-W. Portland, OR is considered the best biking city in the United States. Seattle is ranked #9. Not one of Tri-Cities made the nationwide ranking. Experience One of the Most Scenic Hikes on the Oregon Coast

In 1806 Captain Clark of the Corps of Discovery described what is now Ecola State Park in Oregon as “…the grandest and most pleasing prospects which my eyes ever surveyed…”. I completely agree with Captain Clark and that’s why I make it a point to visit the park, which is near Cannon Beach, each year. And, there’s no better time than right now!
