Craving a Delicious Donut? Stop by One of These Tri-Cities Shops

I can't help myself. I love what hurts me most.

I have no problems having one more slice of pizza than I should, one more serving of tater tot casserole than I should (my wife makes the best, by the way); and I certainly have no qualms about having two more donuts than I should. Did I say two? I meant one.

Where do people get their donuts in Tri-Cities?

Sure, if you're in a pinch there's a dozen of 7-11 stores in town and a lot of people like Krispy Kreme. But if shopping local is important to you, Tri-Cities has its own donut shops.

At work, we've been getting Popular Donuts for our meetings lately. They're really good, classic donuts. If you've never heard of them before, Popular Donuts is on Union Street in Kennewick in that plaza by the roundabout.

When I used to live in Richland, I frequented Spudnuts much more than I do now. Whenever anyone asks what they should do when they visit Tri-Cities, people typically mention Spudnuts. Obviously, the use of potato flour is what sets them apart from most donuts. What most people don't know is that Spudnuts was once a big chain. In fact, there was a point when there were more Spudnut shops than Krispy Kreme. The Spudnut empire fell in the late 1970s, but there are still around 50 stores open today.

If you're from Pasco, you already know the food and donuts are great. In the downtown area, you've got Vinny's Bakery. They'll sell you a dozen donuts that you can pick out yourself and the fritters are delicious. But, you should visit for lunch and pick up a Cuban sandwich, the very one that made Guy Fieri go ballistic.

The other popular Pasco spot for donuts is Viera's Bakery on Lewis Street. Viera's is so good, Yakima got one in 2018. The baked goods made at Viera's aren't limited to donuts. You can get cake, bread, cornbread, upside-down cake, and a ton more.

Other local donut shops don't get talked about as often but are worth a visit. Francisco's Bakery is in Kennewick, and the owner has been baking for three decades. If you find yourself on Court Street in Pasco, Daily Donut is another delicious destination.
