Sometimes you don't want to go out to a fancy establishment. Dive bars are popular because they're low-key, cozy, and down-to-earth. If you're like me and prefer dive bars and mom & pop joints, Tri-Cities can be a haven. Don't let the phrase "dive bar" mislead you, however. Just because these bars are recognized as dive bars, doesn't mean they are run down. When I hear dive bar, the first thing that comes to mind is "familiar" or "cozy."

Of course, my favorite dive bar happens to be the Palm Bar & Grill in Benton City, yes I work there, so naturally, I would be partial, but there is so much to this little bar that I just adore. For starters, the people. The people are so warm and welcoming, it's like coming home. Your first time visiting will draw you in for life! The food is comforting and delicious as well. It is locally owned by a caring bunch, Nick, Ron, Kelsi & Colleen, who have poured their heart and soul into the place to make it feel like home and family.

Another favorite dive bar of mine is Jackalope Bar & Grill in Kennewick, for all the same reasons! The staff is incredible and so much fun, they have excellent food and a comfortable atmosphere as well. When I think of Jackalope Bar & Grill, I think of my favorite movie "Coyote Ugly."

If you have ever visited this bar at night, chances are you have witnessed someone dancing on the bar or table and having an absolute blast. It is truly a place you must visit and the owner, Laurie looks after her girls like they are her own.

I can't forget the actual The DIVE Bar in Richland! I mean, their name is The DIVE Bar after all! It's a beautiful little bar though, with amazing staff and mouth-watering food. It was actually the first time I had ever tried Poutine and I have been hooked ever since! They also have unforgettable fries and onion rings, the onion rings are homemade with beer batter, they had me at beer in my batter! Locally owned by Mike and Dashia Hopp from West Richland, their staff and customers are like family.

Karaoke happens to be a popular reason people like to frequent dive bars. Finding the right host and a good system might just mean you have to bar hop until you find the perfect location for your performance! Lee's Tahitian in Richland is a very popular karaoke location. Larry Lee Ganz, the owner, and host of Hilarryous Entertainment hosts shows there, along with other popular dive bars, like Whiskey River Bar & Grill, Beautiful Burbank Tavern in Burbank and the Tin Hat in Kennewick. You are guaranteed a good time with Larry and the singers are always entertaining!

The Tri-Cities offers so many locally owned and operated little bars, these are just a few of my personal favorites. Ice cold beer, or maybe just a soda, a big fat juicy cheeseburger, live local artists, karaoke, and Norm make up the perfect dive bar in my mind! We would love to hear from you and what you think makes up the perfect dive bar! It's as easy as sending us a message on our app.
