Suspect Who Shot Prosser Police Officer Still at Large
Prosser Police plan a news conference Monday at noon to update the officer involved shooting that occurred around 1am Monday morning.
According to Prosser Police and Benton County Sheriff's officials, an officer responded to the area pictured, the Canyon Park Apartments in the 200 block of Canyon Drive in Prosser. They had received a call about a person or persons trying to "gain access to two apartments in the complex."
Upon arrival the office saw a person in the parking lot who then ran. While the officer was giving chase, the person turned and fired at the policeman, with a bullet hitting them in the leg area. The officer was treated at Prosser Memorial Hospital and the injury is NOT life threatening.
Although the general area was secured, police say the suspect is still at large. According to KEPR-TV, law enforcement has dealt with these suspects before, and they are considered dangerous.
