For the second time in less than a week, Kennewick Police reported a high speed driver on Canal Drive.

Wednesday night shortly after 8PM, an officer on patrol spotted a motorcycle headed east at a very high rate of speed, near North Fisher Street. This is not far from where the 126MPH driver was the other night.

The officer, after turning around, chose to terminate the pursuit due to traffic safety concerns. However a short time later, the motorcycle apparently failed to make a turn near Carmichael Street (close to Big 5 and Lampson Stadium) and it crashed hard.

Police say it was involved in a "collision" but didn't say if another vehicle involved. One female was reported in critical condition, and was later airlifted away from an area hospital.

Police strongly suspect there were two persons on the motorcycle, one may have fled the scene. Little else was released as this is an active investigation.  Police didn't say if the victim was on the motorcycle or in another vehicle.

We will update with more information as it becomes available.
