My wife and I just got back from a week-long vacation along the Oregon Coast and I'm all ready to hit the road again. The 3-day weekend is upon us starting on Friday, and if you are heading out of town, here are some tips to help you plan your trip.

The #RecreateResponsibly Coalition has some tips to help guide you safely outdoors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here are six tips posted on their website to help you navigate your 4th of July weekend.

Tip #1 - Know Before You Go - Check the status of the place you want to visit. If it's closed, have a Plan B ready to go.

Tip #2 - Plan Ahead - Prepare for facilities to be closed, pack a lunch, masks, and hand-sanitizer just in case.

Tip #3 - Practice Physical Distancing - Adventure with your immediate household, be prepared to your nose and mouth and if you are sick - stay home!

Tip #4 - Play It Safe - Slow down and use lower risk activities to reduce your risk of injury.

Tip #5 - Stay Close To Home - This is not the time to travel long distances, most places are only open for day use.

Tip #6 - Leave No Trace - This goes without saying. I was shocked to find face masks discarded on some Oregon trails that my wife and I went down over the last weekend. Take all your garbage with you.

#RecreateResponsibly Coalition has a lot of other tips you can check out on their website that you can check out - Just follow this link to discover more resources for being responsible and planning that 4th of July weekend so you have the time of your life with your family.
