Graffiti Investigation Leads to Arrest of Suspect in Othello

On Sunday, October 4, just after 6 pm, the Othello Police Department received a call reporting a male suspect was spray-painting a residential fence. Clearly, the person who called in the report, believed the suspect did NOT have permission to paint the fence.

The Graffiti Artist Used Bright Yellow Paint to Leave His Mark

When officers arrived, they located extensive yellow spray-painted graffiti on a white vinyl fence in the 900 block of S. Cobblestone Avenue.

As Othello officers investigates the surrounding area, they contacted a male about one block from the damaged fence. The suspect, Nestor Romero-Morales was found to have a can of yellow spray-paint in his possession.

Witness Identified the Suspect as the Person They Saw Damaging the Fence

Based on the investigation, officers developed probable cause to arrest Romero-Morales for Malicious Mischief in the Second Degree (RCW 9A.48.080). He was subsequently booked with Adams County.
