Police have learned that one of two shooting victims in Hermiston who were shot Monday was wanted for a rape charge.

19-year-old Carson D. Rawe of Umatilla has been identified as the shooter, despite a lack of cooperation by witnesses and others according to Hermiston police.

Reports of gunfire came in around 6:38pm at West Cherry and NW Second Ave. A short time later a number of .45 caliber casings were found in the street. Then, police say a 17-year-old Kennewick boy was found in a nearby home with bullet wounds in both legs. Then a 15-year-old boy, also from Kennewick, emerged from that home with a wound to his shoulder.

Police learned the 15-year-old has an outstanding rape arrest warrant, he was treated before being taken to the juvenile justice center in Walla Walla.

Despite the lack of cooperation from witnesses, police were able to ID Rawe, and he was arrested about four hours after the initial shooting. He's facing a variety of charges. Some are wondering if the shooting was related to the alleged rape charges, but no word from authorities.
