Lobster Prices Dropping Due to Coronavirus Outbreak

Toilet paper and bottled water may be sold out, the my glass is half full when it comes to the coronavirus. I mean, there's something good hidden in everything bad, right? Well this is good. Delicious, in fact. You see, all those lobsters caught in U.S. waters that usually get shipped to China remain stranded here in the U.S. because Chinese New Year celebrations and casual dinner gatherings in general are all on hold. That means an influx of the tasty crustaceans for American dinner plates and lower prices to move them quickly. Experts say lobster that might sell for $40/lb might be as low as $20/lb.
