If you haven't driven past, there is no other north-south street like it in Kennewick. Totally unencumbered travel from Gage Boulevard to Clearwater Avenue with few crossroads is possible. It will open after a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m.I spoke with Evelyn Lusignan, Kennewick city's spokesperson, and found out this City of Kennewick road project will now transition from Phase 2 (from Center Parkway to 4th Avenue) to planning for Phase 3 from 4th Ave. to 10th Ave. including a roundabout at five corners. Phase 3 of this road improvement project will cost $5 million and is already fully funded by local taxes plus state and federal grants. It should be complete by fall 2014. A later portion of Phase 3 will continue Steptoe around the south side of Thompson Hill connecting it with Sherman Street in the Southridge area.
